GM sold a little over 15,000 G8 sedans in 2008. It really isn't bad for a car that only had about eight months on the lot and limited imports. I think they will sell more as people see them on the road. People were freaking out when the HHR started slow and GM is selling almost 100,000 of them a year.

Getting rid of the G8 ST was a smart move, although I really did want one. I think the market is there for a coupe version and I hope they can bring one to market eventually. No car-truck combination has been successful in the USA since 1987 when the El Camino was discontinued. I think if they were going to put a Chevy badge on it and call it the El Camino, it could have been a reasonable replacement for the Colorado--especially for the mileage.

 

Yeah, I never understood the return of the cruck being a Pontiac. Should have been the El Camino from the get go, even the return of the GMC Sprint/Caballero.

Frankly, I'm selling my '87 now and am saddened by it. I was hoping for a modern replacement in the future.
