You should have it in Croatian also. Many of fast food workers come from there. Don't know how they got here but they do speak English I can understand.

I add the extra change just to get them confused to see if they give more back than they should. It actually happens sometimes.

 

Give a young cashier a 50 cent piece and that really messes them up because chances are they never seen one before. They stopped minting them for general circulation in 1976. ( don't spend a proof of un-circulated one, they are worth money). Then the cash drawer doesn't have a spot for them like years ago.

 

When doing homework in school, I always had to do a math problem long hand then was allowed to use the calculator to check my work but not change my answer if it was incorrect. This way the teacher could see where/if I needed additional help. I didnt do so well with math in school but am a whizz at it now.

 

Just try to give them a $2.00 bill!

Thank goodness handheld calculators finally became affordable my sophomore year in high school as I was heading into the upper level math classes. I used a slide rule a few times but never really understood it.

Speaking of calculators, I bought my son the Texas Instrument TI-89 at $149 in August before he headed off for junior year studying mechanical engineering. It had upgrades from the TI-83. I can't even understand how to use but, if it helps him, it's worth the money.

I have a HP 32S - it uses RPN* for calculations. Once you get used to it, it works better for long calculations.


* Reverse Polish Notation ... Yes it is real and yes that's what its called.

Instead of [1] [+] [2] [=] 3 it uses [1] [enter] [2] [+] then shows the answer 3 . ..

 

I think ALL of HP's professional calculators work that way. I have the 12C (business and financial)for about 20 years and the previous version (stolen) for about 5. They both worked that way as well.
