Advance Auto Parts - Recent Poor Customer Service

Advance Auto Parts used to have a customer feedback/rating system that was initiatied via an ID number on a purchase receipt. I always participated and gave
them high marks for my experiences with them, which they deserved. I recently went to an Advance Auto Parts and was virtually ignored when trying to buy
oil and filters for my vehicles. I swear that they wouldn't mind if I left. After my purchase, I then noticed that the rating system has since disappeared
from the sales receipt. I also noticed on the website that there is no place to provide customer feedback to customer service. As much as I don't like to
go to Walmart for the same reasons, I'm going to go there in the future, because if I'm going to be treated like crap at Advance, I'd rather be paying a
little less at Walmart.

Not all Advance Auto Parts have the same type people working for them. The 2 stores within 3 mile radius of my home are great. One store even has a chick working behind the counter who actually knows things without looking in the computer. Today when I went to the East Meadow store by me there was 1 employee working his butt off helping everyone without a complaint.

They still have a ratings survey but I only have seen it when I buy on line then pickup at the store. I just did 2 within the past 4 days. When I work on peoples cars I buy on line when they have specials, today was save $30 when you spend $150 + get a $50 coupon for you next $100 purchase after a certain date. If you plan it right-It works really well. You have to plan your work around the special dates because you cant do more than 1 of the same special in the same time period. I made $30 extra dollars today on parts for my neighbors 05 lacrosse when I bought front rotors & Wagner QC fronts. I'll get a $50 coupon also from that purchase in a few weeks. I use the on line because I can make a little extra on the parts and I charge the customer what they would have if they walked in the store. I just used a prior $50 coupon today for my wife's Cobalt-Total out the door for 2 Drums & rear shoes (after core return)-$69.49 which included the tax!. You cant beat that. I was a PEPBOYS guy but with ADVANCEs discounts it out ways the PEPBOYS Points Club. I always shop Rebates & Specials. Always check on line with major part manufacturers for rebates too before you walk out of the house....

No complaints with either AAP in this area, always top notch service and really good counter people. The lack of a customer survey on the slip might be a regional thing, just found one of mine from last week and there is a survey thingy on it.

If you have the time call 'em at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623), and give them the information on the particular store and what happened.

We do all the auto shopping at O'Reilly's around here and haven't ever had any problems there.

Many stores have the rating appear on the receipts, but just randomly printed out when you check out. I've not had any bad experiences at AA. Some days are just bad days at the stores.

I recently got converted to RockAuto, even after online discounts Advance does not get close in price + shipping, and I have not found many parts that I need in stock so even the convenience of a brick store does not help. I quit AutoZone after they refused to give me an oil change special because they only stock 1 oil filter (stock number & inventory) for the HHR, and it wasn't the right brand. Customer Service did get right on it, but Advance is across the street and stocks 5 different brands of filter.

My son turned me on to RockAuto. Great prices if you can wait for shipping. We were able to get a throttle positioning sensor for our Isuzu pickup for about a third of the price of any of the local chains (AutoZone, Advance).

I refuse to go to the nearest AAP after an experience last month, I placed an online order for pickup in the store, it wasn't ready when promised, the starter I ordered was not actually in stock, it took three days to get the refund correct, and the woman behind the counter called my wife a female dog in front of myself and several customers.
