My wife usually gets to the packages first and screws them up... for example, if there's a label that says 'open other end' then sure enough... the wrong end is opened. If it's a bag with a zip lock re-seal... it's probably been cut off...

But although I did know about the little tabs on the side of the roll... I never use them (guess I'm as bad as her :) )

OK, I'll have to look. I KNOW (yeah right) that my rolls don't have push-ins :)

When I first saw this I thought.... Just another internet hoax.

But I checked my kitchen and both rolls of Glad clear wrap and Reynolds alum. foil had those "thingies" on the box ends!!

Being the old fart that I am, I can attest to numerous times over the years that, usually in a hurry, the whole roll came out of the box!!

Today I called my 88 y.o. mother and she never heard of this! She went and checked her products and, guess what?? At first she didn't understand and said that there was a "D" on the end. I said "push it". Bingo!! She was having some friends over and said she'd spread the word!!

Sorry to say that the info in this thread is one of the most useful things I've come by on this forum!!

I've known it since I've been wrappin' foil 'round my ankles and makin' hats to wear so that I'm protected! It was hard to wrap my ankles when the roll kept fallin' out and one day I saw the writin' !

ChevyMgr... by sharing this you have performed a service that IMHO elevates you to SuperStar status on this Board! Neither Mrs. Doc nor I were aware of this secret that has literally been under our noses (or rather our thumbs) all our lives.

I, like many others, had never seen those flaps before. And honestly, when you posted this, I thought "Nah, couldn't be true." Well, I went and checked my rolls, and there they were. Talk about feeling pretty stupid. Guess it proves that we're just not as observant as we think we are.

I just checked the cupboard. Glad Cling Wrap has them, Alcan Aluminum Foil does not. The wife didn't know either. Doh!!

It would be my luck that there would be a little guy hiding in there drinking mine!
