Arizona Snow

The Weather Channel is reporting that Arizona has received more snow this year than Alaska. What in the world is going on? We've had temps 10-15 degrees over normal all week long but I understand that cold front will finally reach down here this weekend. Oh, we'll have lows in the 40s!

The mid west is getting an ice storm currently. It's not uncommon at times for other areas in the states to be colder or have worst weather than Alaska. It that total amount of days for the year they don't want to beat.

80 here today, it's supposed to be in the low/mid 50's by Sunday. I just hope we get some rain. As dry as it is, I'll take some snow.

Those higher elevations (Flagstaff) have no issue with getting snow

Alaska is deceiving....Areas around Anchorage do not get the snowfall that other parts get...currents from the Sea of Japan keep things in check for that area (at least that is what the locals told me when I was at Elmendorf)

btw, probably one of the most beautiful places in the world if you have never been (Alaska that is)

Is that C or F. -3C in only 26.6 F. But -3 F will get your attention. We were at 27F this morning with freezing rain.

Goose, I have two coworkers who were stationed in Alaska. They tell it's beautiful. I'd like to see it from a cruise ship in the summer. Other than that, two years in Iceland was enough cold and snow for me!

Well all of your weather has made it here. Average commutes in the Boston area are 2 1/2 - 3 hours for a normal travel time of 30 minutes. All the main roads and highways are jammed, snow covered, and icy. As I write this the temperature is 16 degrees F (thats -8 c to our friends up north), there is 10 inches on the ground, it's snowing to beat the band. And just think, we have another storm due in a few days. Guess winter is finally here!
