And we were all going to die because of the Y2K bug too. Don't you just love how the media spins things up?

The gist of it is that if you've patched, your pretty safe. To verify, go here http://91.199.104.31/ and run BitDefender's free scan to see if your infected. If so, they have a free tool to remove it.

All you need to do is make sure your virus definitions are up-to-date and scan your computer tonight. All the major antivirus companies are well aware of the threat. If you have no antivirus software, follow Doc's instructions above. And get some antivirus software while you're at it!

Here is a quote from Microsoft...
Am I at risk of having the Conficker worm?
Most antivirus software could detect and block the Conficker worm, so if you have updated antivirus software on your computer, you are at a much lower risk of being infected by the Conficker worm.

You can go to the Microsoft site and they are offering a free scan of your system for viruses.

I let my antivirus lapse, and when I went to renew it today, it refused to connect to the server through the program on my computer or the website. Which is one of the symptoms of the virus. Crap. Don't really know if I have it or not, so I went through Microsofts bulletins, and am running a scan now on their free utility. The patch they have for download that's supposed to block outside manipulations kept getting refused because it's not relevant to my system, but as far as I know I haven't had any system updates lately, so who knows on that one. If I were computer smarter I could probably dig through registries and such to find out of it's actually in there or not, but I guess I'll trust the scan I'm doing now. Also added the free Avast security program, so hopefully I'm good here.
