Here's my break-down.

Airborne - I'm in the Army and part of my job is jumping (falling out of is more accurate) out of planes is part of my job.

Beachbum - I used to live in Daytona Beach, FL and love spending time at the beach. Most weekends during the summer I spend at the beaches in the Wilmington, NC area. I'll be glad when someone comes out with cross bars for the roof-racks and I can carry my surfboard on them.

Question Tell Us About Your Username

I have seen some very interesting usernames here on the forum and thought it would be fun to hear the story behind your selection. I've been thinking about doing this sort of post since I talked to Mike at SoCalHHR's when I ordered a part for a friend, as he asked me what it was all about.

So...I'll go first.

Back in 1996 I started working for a high rise apartment complex here in Denver and really enjoyed my job. Not soon after that, a set-top box called WebTv became available, so I purchased one because I wanted to get online and couldn't justify spending nearly $1,000 at the time to get a computer. So I plopped down about $100 and brought it home and hooked it up to my 27" television and phone line. Then it asked me for a username...and I'm like what is that? (now we know why no computer)

Anyway, once I realized that they wanted me to pick a name to go by for email and stuff, I decided on courthousedeb. Deb...well, that's obvious...but the courthouse part has to do with the name of the place where I worked, as it was part of the name of the building which is Courthouse Square. The building is next to what used to be the Denver Courthouse, which was close quite a few years ago and sat vacant for years, except when they used it several times during the early 1980's to film some Perry Mason shows.

I used the WebTv for 2 or 3 years until I realized how much I was missing by not having a computer, so I purchased my first computer and just continued the use of courthousedeb. Although I no longer work there, I still continue to use the name, as it's the internet identity I've had for nearly 10 years.

Some of you have very interesting usernames, so I think it will be fun to hear how they came about. While I realize some of you use your real names, let's hear why you decided to do that instead of something else.

"Cearbhaill" is the Gaelic form of my last name, Carroll, and as we own an old Celtic breed of dog it started as a kennel name and just grew. Technically it is pronounced similarly to "Kear-holl", but we always just say "Keerb-hail".

I am "Cearbhaill" in every forum I belong to. Well, except Television Without Pity where dear old "Cearbhaill" was banned for having an opinion
I am now "Caerbhaill" there, and am certain no one will recognize me with the new name

I started to use my nickname, which is "Tooter" (don't ask me why, my aunt gave it to me as a baby. I thought that would cause too many questions. The students in the drama group I lead at church call me Jamesy, but that sounds a little too girly for here. So I used my real name, James, and the model year of my HHR, '06. Kind of boring, ain't it?

My last name is as you know Holmes. When we bought the HHR I wanted a special licence plate made for the HHR. My wife and I tossed around His Hot Ride and many others to connect with the initials of the HHR and became obvious to call it the Holmes Hot Ride. I just happen to have a last name that seems to go with it.

"Oldschoolfreak" well I was a kid in the 70`s and loved the look of the muscle cars back then with the huge fat wide tires in the rear with the rear all hijacked givin the car that beefy stance and was instantly hooked from my hot wheels then to my chevelle I own now !

So as i got older I got hooked on older cars from 1972 and older, by the time i was 25 i had restored several novas and 67-69 camaros and buy now its probably around 35 camaros, novas, chevelles combined and have restored some 20`s-50`s cars for friends and brother-in-laws. 10 years ago when i met my now wife she said your a freak about all this car crap!! (goin to shows, swap meets, buyin neglected cars and turining them back into beautiful classics) and my passion grew to love all the things about cars like the oldschool ways of rodding out 20`s-70`s cars and woodies and such!

so the love of the (oldschool) ways on cars and the wife saying I`m (freakish) about it LOL (oldschoolfreak) was born!!
