Hey, just reviewed my post regarding Sambo's. I think that could be viewed in an improper way. If anyone took offense I apologize .

I was referring to the restaurant chain that was much like a Denny's or Ihop. They are now out of business with the exception of one that is still open and operating in Santa Barbara, I believe. It's on the National Registaer of Historic Buildings.

At my local Dunkin' Donuts, if I order a "regular", it has cream and sugar in it. Order a regular at Dunkin's on St. Lucie West Boulevard in Port St. Lucie, FL, and you get a black coffee.....no cream, no sugar, no nothing.

Bob & Doug Mackenzie's album 'Great White North'

It's disturbing that I remember that.

We have Cokes and soda, and for the oldies like me, tonic.

We don't have hoagies, we have subs. Unless you are from South Boston....then you get a "spuckey".

We have pizza, not pies.

For snacks we have chips, ice cream. Having grown up with a family from Nova Scotia I am familiar with "herring chokers", and they can choke on it all they want. I would much rather eat with a spaghetti bender from the North End. And in my house, the real Irish eat boiled dinner once a week, not corned beef once a year on March 17.

Around here we have clams, unless you are in Rhode Island, where they have quohogs. In New York, 50 clams will get you a half decent meal with a few drinks.

I'll stop while I am ahead, otherwise I'll be here all day.
