Car Of Tommorow (NASCAR)

Was the new NASCAR C.O.T. impressive, worth the hoopla, of nothing different, other than the shape, and look?

So far the Nextel Cup looks like Chevys and the also rans.COT looks to continue the trend.

I think in the long run it's going to be a good deal. It definitely makes the cars safer for the drivers. With the cars being pretty similar, I believe it's going to come down to driver talent rather than the aero advantage/disadvantage of the car. That's the way racing should be.

I think ones they run these cars in a number of races, things will be fine. What I found really disturbing today was Kyle Busch's comments after the race saying that the cars "SUCK". There's a time and a place for comments like that and Victory Lane in the inaugural COT race is not the place.

I was so incensed at his comments after the race, I sent an email to Dave Despain's Wind Tunnel address. Might want to watch and see if you see my email being read tonight. You'll know it's me if they read one from Debbie in Arvada, Colorado.

I watched the race, but generally speaking, it was pretty standard.
I guess there will be some info gained from this race to further improve the C.O.T., but maybe Bush gave an honest opinion.
What if the car really does suck, would you like him to say otherwise, then down to road appear to flip-flop?
Also, putting a microphone in someones face after just about anything, is pretty much a bad idea, especially after going in a circle 500 times.

If it levels the driver field and makes it safer, I am all for it. DW mentioned several times it was like the older cars. Frankly, I am all for change. I had a chance to go to Bristol and passed it up. I have tickets for the fall race and for Phoenix. I am anxious to see how the COT does on the bigger tracks.

One problem area I saw was the splitter under the front bumper.
It protrudes and cuts tires, and it breaks off and creates a debris caution. My understanding is that carbon fiber is real sharp, NASCAR runs tires that can`t take anything sharp.
It will be interesting to see the first Superspeedway C.O.T. race.

Bristol, in my opinion is not a good example to judge the car from. There is way too much beating and banging and I think that would make it hard to decide what really caused some of the problems. With all the contact and the fact that they run no inner liners there, you always have tire issues at Bristol due to that contact and resulting debris that falls on the track.
