Red face CBC Kraft Hockeyville - Vote for Humboldt!

Hey everyone,

I dont have much of a post count but I frequent this site, and have done so ever since buying my year 1 HHR

There is a contest in Canada on CBC called Kraft Hockeyville. Right now my hometown of 5000 is in the top 10 and facing off against Penticton, BC.

If Humboldt wins the vote they receive 25K towards fixing up the arena (which really needs it) and the winner of 1st place in the vote after the top 5 are decided wins an NHL game in their arena and 100K for upgrades.

Penticton just built a brand new arena, so do a fellow HHR enthusiast whose first mod was the glorious stubby atenna a gentle favour and go to:

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hockeyville/

and vote for Humboldt, SK

and, pretty much any other community besides Penticton at this point

I don't expect that many people to do it but it takes just a few seconds and is a great thing for a small community like Humboldt

Hugs and Kisses,

Prairie HHR

Hey Prairie, for such a small town I can't believe how many people I have met directly and indirectly from Humboldt. When I was in university I met almost a dozen people from Humboldt in my various classes. One thing I have to say about that town is that it produces some very nice people (although pretty odd at times.)

I hope you're keeping warm out in Toon town, my brother goes to the UofS and says it's been a pretty miserable winter.

Anyways, good luck!

Ha yes, some people can be a bit strange but most have good hearts.

We broke a record with I believe it was a little over 3 weeks of weather reaching below -30 or so. I don't mind snow too much, but when you add in the terrible cold with some of the above average winds its a terrible combo. My rental here near the University (I am 21 am was in post-secondary here now applying for RCMP) leaves the HHR out in the cold and it had a few days I thought it might be frozen but has started every time, somedays it was unable to get plugged in as well. Even my room-mates 02 F150 wouldnt start one day

Ya last years contest was a good one. I was very happy to see Wilcox get top5 they are hockey nuts down there

Atlantic, Ontario, and Quebec have all won, so I hope it is time for a Western community to sneak in the win this year and get an NHL game.

That's crazy! I own a condo in Saskatoon which my brother lives in during the school year and he has to park his truck outside behind the building. He was here at Christmas and I was asking if the plug worked because I know they tested it in the summer and found it wasn't working. He told me that he hasn't tried to plug it in because his block heater cord is missing from his engine and he doesn't know how that happened. He said he doesn't use his truck out there anyways and takes the bus to campus so it didn't really matter too much. He drives a 20 year old (or so) Nissan pickup so I would imagine it could be very temperamental.
I've noticed that the HHR is pretty solid for starting in the winter. This is the first winter my HHR has had to live outside and it's been one of the colder winters in the last few years. Other than getting stuck in the snow and slush a lot when parking on the residential streets I haven't had any problems.
