Cell Phone door opener

Has anyone tried the cell phone to cell phone door unlock???

Several people have asked me about it. But I refuse to carry a cell phone, so I can't try it. Here's the deal.....

Supposedly you can call someone miles away whose car is locked. They stand next to the car with the cell phone and you press the remote unlock next to the phone on your end and it will unlock the car.

I'm told it's used when the spouse, daughter or any borrower of the car locks the keys in. They call you, you initiate the remote and they have access.

Oh, the one catch.....the phone need to be digital and on the same provider.

I'm skeptical...but maybe

Opps...MrVette's post reminded me to say ..IT MUST BE THE REMOTE PROGRAMMED TO THE CAR. So if this works, it's like your own On-Star door unlocker.

I heard of this myth along with other cell phone gimmicks. The way it would work to me is if the one cell phone would pick up the fob frequency and then send it and the other cell phone which would be next to car, sending the unlock fob frequency to the car and unlock it. I doubt it would work but it could.

There is no way that this could work. Cell phones can't capture and repeat the radio signal used by keyless entry systems. Read below.
