Chipper/Shredders

Anyone own or use a gas chipper/shredder?

I am looking at home models up to about $900 or so.

From reading reviews, most of these units claim to chip up to 3" branches, but anything over 2" might be difficult. That's ok as I will use any branches over 2" for a fire.

The Harbor Freight unit gets pretty good reviews, and at $429 with a coupon its a good deal.

The other unit I am looking at is a Champion ($790). I have several Champion generators and their tech support is great.

I don't want to rent a larger unit because I will be needing it every so often and the cost would be prohibitive over time.

Thanks
Steve

The vibration from feeding 1-2" branches will numb your hands in less than 5 minutes time... They don't "self feed" like big commercial chippers do. Small sticks and leaves do okay.

Look at your local Pawn shops. Lots of landscaping guys use them as winter storage and the ones that went out of business should have defaulted by now.

Good advice.

I remember back about 30 years ago, a Huge tree chipper was left running as the oiler came to service it. Yep, it somehow began shredding & that was the end of that guy.
Not a pleasant memory.
