As one columnist in the Flint Journal wrote, it's clunkers...not junkers. He was complaining because his old Geo doesn't qualify because it used to get good mileage, even though it doesn't now.

I went through this process and it was like going to hell and back with the dealer. It had to be one of the most anxiety producing car buying experiences that I have ever dealt with.

I had a very, very rusty 1993 S10 Blazer that only had 1st and 2nd gear (I used to plow snow with it and pulled a travel trailer with it in its heyday).

The fuel pump went 3 weeks ago, but luckily I kept plates and insurance on her. I replaced the fuel pump for $255, but once I moved the fuel lines, they started to drip (also VERY RUSTY). At least she ran good enough to bring to the dealer to be crushed.

I was able to drive it to the dealer, they verified that it drove, then 6 days later I finally picked up a 2009 Cobalt LT Coupe and they gave me $4500 for the Blazer. I'd be lucky to get $250 for it on Craigs List. They didn't give me a cent for the salvage, but I knew it was a shady dealer anyway. I was happy to get rid of this clunker.

Although it was a PITA, it worked for me.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The $3 billion Cash for Clunkers program will shut down on Monday, the government said Thursday.

Dealers must submit any pending Clunker deals, including any necessary paperwork, by 8 p.m. ET Monday.

Is you truck too old or heavy?

Showroom traffic was still looked pretty heavy when I've stopped by my dealer since I picked up mine... 2 Billion doesn't last like it used to.....

So now they're all increasing production, and will have too many cars on the lots again!
