F-101A 53-2418 underbelly
This F-101A-1-MC (53-2418) was the first Voodoo to fly, there were no prototypes. Piloted by Bob Little the aircraft went supersonic on its first flight at Edwards AFB on September 29, 1954. In 1958 the aircraft was delivered to General Electric and redesignated NF-101A it served as a testbed for the J79-GE-1 turbojet. In 1959 it was returned to the USAF and used as a ground mechanic trainer at Amarillo AFB, Texas. The aircraft is now at Pueblo Weisbrod Museum, Colorado.
