I am sure that Toyota had hopes of being #1 in Nascar, but I doubt they wanted to be #1 in Cheating. They have to be banging their heads against the wall after the investment they made to get into the cup series with Michael Waltrip. Now even if they are successful this will be a black cloud over them for some time.

Then again Jimmie Johnson cheated last year at Daytona and he still won the race and the championship.

 

Your so right, but I hope you and everyone understand what I am trying to say, That the Sponsors do care, Sponsor Care about 3 thing
1. A Good Car
2. A Good driver
3. A Drivers good skills along w/luck

Sponsors do not look to see who can cheat better then others

 

There is NO car out there that is 100% legal! I know I've been on both sides. I pushed the rules and got by several times and caught several times. I even had an official come up to me one night and want to know what I was using to soak my tires. I told him I wasn't. He laughed and asked again. I laughed and told him we were testing some stuff for a major company (sponser) He told me they nedded to work on it because a couple teams had softer tires than us. i told him but when you checked for it you didn't catch ours though. That next year 5 teams at the daytona 500 had it on their tires and didn't get caught. I was also an official for a short time. It's an old saying if you are not winning you are not cheating enough. Mixing alochol and silicone was a little blatant for even David Hyder (incredeble driver himself, 10 times better that Mikey ever thought about being).

 

I sent an email off to Toyota about the cheating incident and here is thier reply:

Tomdent1, has confirmed my statement, a "SPONSOR" told him his tires needed a little something to be competitive, sponsors only do so to get paid.
Toyota now knows about the cheating, not pulling out, just hopes it doesn`t taint the year as they sponsor their car in the championship challenge.

 

what's the old adage..."it's only cheating if you get caught!"

 

I don`t know, do you tend to feel better about cheating and not getting caught, or relief with the knowledge you didn`t get caught...?
Keeping in mind that you believe there`s someone always watching from above. (I use the "YOU" in the general sense)

 

Really I don't care who cheats, I won't be able to tell from my seats on Sunday anyway.
