Shame on THEM for letting you leave BEFORE they had you approved.

Actually, you should make them come get it....and bring you your old ride back to you.

Just for reference, what dealership is this, so we can all avoid them in the future.

The dealer could not get me financed...not sure why...I have (had) a FICO of 650 and good history for eight years...mortgage, revolving credit, etc...although my cc balances are a little high.

I told them I already put over 500 miles on it...they said that "was their problem now".

So after work I will take my HHR back and get my old battlewagon suburban back...provided it is still at the dealership. If not, the game needs to change...

It was fun for two weeks...never got a chance to mod it, but maybe I'll try to get a used SS a little farther down the road.

Nice to meet you all...nice forum....I may be back?>

I just finished an article a couple of days ago, about credit ratings. According to the article the bold highlighted area in your post was probably the problem. Credit agencies are now considering anything UNDER 670 a credit risk. Anything under 720 "questionable" risk.

I wish you luck...

Thanks Snoopy...just another sign of the times that $ just are not available like it used to be...although one would think that a collateralized loan (Esp for a car) would still be a bit more fluid.

Bjall4: from my research, it is a wide spread and common tactic...not related to one specific dealership. Even a very prominent one in Broward County, FL.

I find it odd that they let someone drive off the lot with the new vehicle without all of the documentation signed, including finalized financing.

I don't think that "Spot Delivery" would even be allowed here in Canada.

With all the leases and purchases I have done here in Canada, you don't get the vehicle until you have secured the financing and have signed all of the final documents.

I bought my 2010 HHR in July, 0% financing for 5 years through GMAC.

Filled out the paperwork on Thursday, got confirmation on Friday that the financing was approved, and picked the car up on Monday after work.

I got lucky with cash for clunkers. Like some of you I did the Fed Credit Union. Got 3.9% (the best at the time here in NY) & the dealer couldn't touch it. All I had to do with the credit union was open an account (didn't have one) with $5.00 and deposit $500 in the account by the end of 365 days of getting the loan. Worked out and still saved about $600 over getting the HHR with 0% financing because I took the $2000 cash back from chevy instead...

I'm right with you there, brother. I did the same thing when I bought my HHR, right down to using my credit union for the preapproved.

If I had a dirty done to me from a dealer like this, I'd also start pointing the pen by bringing their rating down through poor reviews.

I never mention I'm set to purchase. That just allows them to inflate the price they will let it go for..

No, I haggle for the lowest price & even ask them about their financing.

But when we are at bottom line numbers, I seal the deal..

Update:

I went by last night to "un-ring" the bell, and they could not get my old vehicle started. They said just come back tomorrow.

SO I get a call a little while ago...they said that they tried to get it started, but could not. I would have to arrange a ride after returning the HHR.

I called "BS"

They can have their HHR back when I can drive off the lot with my Suburban. It was in their possession for over two weeks...as far as I am concerned, they are responsible for it.

WTF? it's a Chevrolet dealer! I should think SOMEONE in the service department knows how to troubleshoot/perform diagnostics!!!

The person I spoke with said they can't spend any hours on it, but if I want to put it in the shop there.....

What a freaking mess.....

Put as many miles on the HHR as you can. I mean what are they going to do with it? They can't sell it as new anymore!
