Die Spam and email shenanigans. ANy cures?
Any sort of revenge bots out there?
I got over six thousand emails in one day last week alone! Someone autobotted me. Spoofed my email address so most of the emails , though different all said they originated from my address.
I'm thinking I have to change my email address, but then " The Terrorists win" like they say....... ( Sigh, ME quoting the administration, Now that's funny! )
This happened at my business account. I have a number of filters in place with lots of keywords entered, but the spammers use EVERY name I've ever heard in the "From bar" so to stop all of them I would have to reject every name in the world!
I know how they get my address since it is on my website, but it is my business address, so it needs to be public. Plus it seems once your address is on a spam list, the spammers meet in a cave somewhere and share the email lists.
I will perhaps create a new email address and write it in like so: blank AT blank DOT com .
By using the words AT and DOT I suppose I could stop some autobot ( Sorry Transformers ) from swiping the address from our website.
Now I do make enemies being in business, like the folks I chase out for stealing at my store who come back later and shoot my windows and the others who keyed my van, so they too could go out of their way to cause email mischief as well. No stopping some hooliganism.
I still get a hundred or so bad emails in every ten hour period. Truly time for some action. Sometimes I cannot sort the good from the bad and am no doubt losing decent emails some of the purges.
Any thoughts?
At least the blasted spammers have to sign up at websites to do their wrong like they did last night here. Still, a lot of folks with time on their hands and mischief in their heads. Ever look at a typical youtube comment section? A lot of time I see ads and links to porn. Yeah for porn fans.........
Life is tiring with all this stupid crud spoiling regular internet use. But I guess this garbage and mischief IS the way of the interent. One simply has to know this, but I'd like to at least stop the thousands of bad emails in a day thing .

Here is one small to combat your issue for future use.
One way they get your email address is thorough collection software/spam-bots that gets your email address links in your web page(s). A simple way to format your email address is to use a obfuscator email link tool, like the ones found here:

Thanks Sindy
A nice tool. I'll show my wife who can edit the webpage and change the email address. I have yet to do any html, despite doing all the photography and making photogalleries galore in pbase.
One funny thought though, If I were a nefarious agent of Spam ( Hmm, sounds like something from Get Smart ) I'd set up an email obfuscater page and folks would unwittingly be giving me their emails That's just the way I've come to think after so many years in business .
Heck, I don't believe the "No call' list you sign up for does anything more than get you on more "Do Call" lists
I guess I'm "cautiously Pessimistic"
We will use that tool. Thank you again. Gotta try. I guess I'd better create a new email address too since the old one is so well know. I'll have to send it out to a hundred or so folks who do matter, but that's why they call it work I guess

I trust you will BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) your email address to the 100 or so folks who matter.
I don't appreciate when I'm included in a CC email and everyone sees everyone else who received the same message. There is also collection software that plucks email addresses from that type as well.
