5 years ago the Alabama DMV screwed up my new personalized plates. Had to reorder. They reissue new plates every 5 years. Of course they screwed up again this year. They made the same mistake again !!!
Took 6 weeks for the messed up plates to arrive. Guess it will take just as long for the corrected ones to get here.
Old 1 on top.
New “wrong” one bottom.
I notice the tellow sticker does not have the space 'SSHHR'.
if that is used for the renewal, there is the issue.
Good luck getting this resolved
Yeah. The yellow sticker was mentioned when I went back to the DMV. They said the sticker had nothing to do with the reorder, But, the sticker for the new tag didn’t have the space either. So…..hmmmmm.
Here’s my original tag from when the car was new.
Arizona allows 7 spaces for personalized plates. When you fill the form, you must leave one of the spaces empty to allow for the space between "words". Does Alabama have the same provision?
Snoopy
Yes. Alabama does that when you order the tags the 1st time. They give us new plates every 5 years. That’s where my problem has been with the automatic reissues. There was some sort of computer program change several years ago (according to the local DMV clerk) when all these misprints started. Seems mine was not the only one.
Ahaaaa, programming error or data input incorrect. So is the agency making any adjustments or corrections for it? Or are you going to need to live with it? Can you just have a plate issued as a new owner (and probably correctly)?.....difference in cost?
