Earthquake on East Coast

My House was rocking. It was a weird felling. 6.2 EARTQUAKE hit VA just about 2pm. We felt it here in NJ and were like WTF was that. My deck was rocking back and forth and the walls were shaking. Inside the house everything was moving it was freaky and unsettling.

Yea we are fine. Hopefully nearer to the center of the quake everyone is OK.

It didn't move stuff here enough to do damage just enough to freak us out a bit. The GF said the walls around the deck were swaying back and forth and she could see the deck and house shaking, inside it was like being in a boat on the couch it just started wobbling and then the whole house was wobbling. Freaking stuff.

I was sitting on the couch with my feet reclined and felt like my feet were swaying slightly. It is reported that it was felt as far away as Chicago and Detroit.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 struck in northern Virginia, the U.S. Geological Survey said Tuesday.

The quake was felt in Washington, D.C., and as far away as North Carolina and New York, witnesses said. While all U.S. Capitol buildings were evacuated, there were no reports of injuries or damage.

Good! I thought I was having a allucinations, but I felt it slightly up in Ottawa. Just a gentle rocking motion though.

I hope it didn't cause too much damage to those closer to it.

Sitting in a gazebo on the sand about 40 feet from the beach in Piney Point, Maryland. One lone boat had gone by about 1/4 mile from shore 6-8 minutes earlier. I told my wife, boy those waves took a long time to get here and seemed bigger than they should have been. About that time the gazebo started to rock for what seemed to be 10-15 seconds. Weird feeling.
