GM Heritage Museum

Here's a link to a video on you tube for the GM Heritage Museum. The video is 15 minutes long....so be prepared to sit a while. Also the pictures "click" through rather rapidly.

Oh, these were taken AFTER the big sell off, so the picture's reasonably represent how the collection currently appears. Although, it is constantly in a changing state. It is much different than when I was privileged to tour this facility.

Many cars are representative of vehicles some members have expressed previous ownership in.

ENJOY!!

I was there the year the corvair convention was ,4-5 years ago. GM's private collection! Shame it isn't open to the public.

As a van fanatic, I liked the little silver blue 66 chevyvan in the background. It is hydrogen powered! back in '66... The whole rear of the van is the hydrogen generator.
also not shown was a 99 or so camaro /camino pace car. Pretty cool, and a 96 style impala s/s camino- different.

In the back corner was a pair of fiberglass concepts which looked like dodge neons, one was a panel version!

My favorite on this video ( which wasn't there when I was) is the Nomad Concept. What a dissapointment that GM didn't build it !

I was so lucky to see the Heritage Collection, The highlight of my trip to Pontiac,Mich.

I was there in December 2010. There's still a lot of vehicles in there (post BK), and stuff that is unique in many ways. We actually had several people closely checking out a '75 Chevette that had 50-something miles on it, and still had the sticker on the window. The changes in level of refinement in small cars over 35 years was quite amazing to see.

Very cool video.

I understand the exhibits are rotated in and out. Is that video showing pretty much the whole thing? Not seeing a whole lot from the 60's except for Camaros and Corvettes, also very few wagons.

In an effort to raise capital, GM sold a lot of the 60's vehicles at the B J auction several years back. I think the total sale at that time was around 250 vehicles.

To answer your question regarding the current status.......hard to say. I believe the video is dated August of last year. So to do a valid comparison, someone would have had to visited within that time period.

When I toured, in 1995 and again in 2006, there were a number of changes...but most were additions of new concepts and "protos" of new models.

I have 1400 shares of old GM stock that's worthless. Maybe they could put that on display.
