It still amazes me how hateful people are who post comments on those articles. I figured the Canadians would be a little more sympathetic, but they'll dogpile on GM with the best of the American import-fanboys.

Funny how nobody in the media talks about the gas-guzzlers Toyota's building these days like the Lexus ISF and all the Toyota trucks and SUVs, but if Pontiac or Dodge decide to produce a limited-production sports sedan/coupe with a V8, it's like GM and Chrysler are clubbing baby seals on primetime TV.

There was a similar article on the CBC website, and the comments are just unbelievable.

There should be an update today all the remaining union reps were going up this morning so they must have an offer. Most of the plant will be gone by next June when the Cobalt/G5 is done. The midnite shift could be gone this fall and there was allready a reduction planed for around Jan 09.

For most of us we only have 1 year the trades will be the last to go after they unhook the machines for removal. The HHR was the only model we had to build for in 2010 and we can build the whole year in 8 weeks.

boy, i read through some of those comments (after reading the article of course), and it still amazes me how closed-minded people still are. yes, for many years american cars were heavy, gas hogs while import cars were light and fuel efficient, but now every single auto manufacturer has something in each of those categories. now that the american auto manufacturers are looking away from trucks so much, focusing less on the behemoths, our car market has greatly improved. finally getting some decent cars out there, granted, GM's cars are much nicer, more attractive than Ford or Dodge/Chrysler IMHO. i mean, come on, the new Malibu is WAY better than that Avenger...and the Charger...at least GM can revive a legend and have it stay true to it's evolved heritage...the hell is a 4-door Charger...and i'm not too crazy about the Challenger's interior...looks just like the Charger/300/Avenger interiors, i like the rest of it though lol

okay, rant's over lol. closed-minded people piss me off...
