Have some questions for people who work on exhaust systems

On Friday my wife's Vue started to sound like a Civic with a Fat Can exhaust on it....tonight was the first chance I've been able to look at it...

I don't know too much about exhaust but you can see that one of the bolts has rotted out on the part that holds these 2 pieces together probably right below the driver....moisture leaks from there and it feels like the end of the bolt is still on the other side...

Any idea of what I am probably looking at here?

Easy fix or am I gonna get gigged for a whole new exhaust? Any shop like Midas, Meinke Monore etc able to handle something like this?

Any help appreciated

A new gasket and two bolts. Cheap fix if you do it yourself.

Shouldn't Be More than $40.00 "TOPS"! Put Vehicle On Lift, Remove 1 1/2 Bolts, Clean Both Flange Surfaces, Install New Gasket and Relplace New Hardware! My Muffler Guy would be Between $20.00 and $30.00 Max! I would recommend a Custom Muffler Shop instead of a Franchise! Sometimes the Franchises will have you Leaving with a complete Cat Back Exhaust System!

If you use a jack to raise the car up, be sure and use jack stands to secure it. This is a must!!!

Yep that is for sure...

Ok over on BITOG I got some good advice as was mentioned here....if I want to DIY I'd need a punch and hammer and half to know what size bolts etc to get...I'm just hoping the other bolt holds for a few days until I can get it in for someone to do it

I think it sounds cool but my wife just gave me that death stare when I mentioned it

I'm not bad to doing a lot of DIY stuff but given the condition of this hardware I'd rather let a shop do it..

I hammered on that bolt for a bit with a screwdriver and the end of a ratchet (I know but couldn't even find a damn hammer jeesh) and it didnt seem like it wanted to budge.......would a punch and hammer get it done?

A punch, a hammer, and enough force would get anything done.

Don't know how much you want to put into it, but if I was going to do that and not replace the exhaust, I would have a shop cut and bend some new pipe to fit, you could even use the stock cat and muffler using sleeves or flare the ends and clamp em.

Wow, your wife drives STICK? What a keeper

A respectable auto repair shop could get you in and out for low dollar$. Don't go to an exhaust shop, as they are too keyed on selling parts. Use an independent shop recommended as honest by a friend.
