I love my 57" DLP (Mitsubishi), never had a problem with it and a great picture.

Sony's XBR8 is LED lit. LED will be the norm given its service life, energy usage and heat output. I had a 60" Mitsu. DLP that died after 4hrs (lamp system) so I went with a Sony 50" 1080i rear projection LCD. That is now waiting for a service tech to replace the optic box due to heat, which is why Sony no longer does rear projection, so I can make my buyer happy. The lamp is lasting longer than the components. All in all it's been a good set , but I'm done with projection sets.

IMO, Samsung wins quality and picture hands down. Just bought a 32" for $526 from Best Buy. I only have one TV and don't expect to have to replace/repair it for at least 10 years. Doing a lot of research led me to the Samsung.

this would be a ideal situation but sadly i doubt it will be true. Tube tvs have lasted a long time, and you could still be using one from 20 years ago. But I highly doubt that our new lcd's and plasmas will last that long. The technology is still too new and no one really know how long they will last. Many early adopters will be replacing theirs soon, not just to keep up with the technology but because they bought new technology.

If you're buying a tv right now, i really doubt it will last 10 years. Just my thoughts though.

Our Panasonic plasma is about 6 years old and still running strong. Our replacement will be for the newer technology. I'm just glad that it will be 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of what we paid for our 1st one

We have a Panasonic Plasma for our main TV. If the TV had to be replaced it would be with another Panasonic, no question about it. And while your looking at TV's, remember to buy the special cleaner to clean the screen. It is well worth the cost.

Didn't know anything was made to last 8 - 10 years. And with the way the prices have come down, you can afford to replace them.

I have a 46" Samsung which I love, love, love! It's the LN46A530. The reviews on this t.v. are very good. The picture on H.D. is fantastic, and it's a great value. I think I saw this at Best Buy for around $1200.
