Hk P30

I was at my favorite gun store yesterday and I came across a Heckler & Koch P30 9MM. I instantly fell in love! It's the best feeling, quickest sighting pistol I have ever played with.

It has mag release and slide release on both sides which makes it great since I'm a lefty. It's SA/DA and the de****er is on the rear of the frame next to the hammer. I like this because it keeps the pistol streamlined.

It has no external safety which i like (I believe safeties can get you killed in stress shooting). The barrel has hexagonal rifling for improved accuracy. The back strap and side grip panels are interchangeable for the best fit for your hand.

The only thing I don't like is the price tag! $935.00 at this particular store. Although I love the gun so much that I may trade in my Glock 22 for it.

Does anybody else have one, or shot them?

I never have, but the one thing that would concern me is the 9mm part. Not saying 9mm is a bad thing or can't stop some one, but I would trust a .40 or .45 to stop some one in the first two shots far more than I would a 9mm.

If you are thinking about it for a carry gun you should consider the stopping power. Again, I know there are many people who have 9mm as their carry gun, but I would not be one of them. I carry a .40 Glock.

I've got a .40 Glock 22, but it's too large for me to carry. Instead I carry a Smith & Wesson hammerless with .357 Black Talons. It doesn't show with most clothes I've got, unlike the G22.

I'm getting it for both CCW and target. It's cheaper to shoot, and I can shoot 9mm longer than I can .40S&W.

I would get it in .40, but so far the P30 is 9MM only...maybe by the time I get the money together they'll have a .40 for me!

What is too big? The overall size? I have the G23 and it hasn't presented a problem yet. I use an IWB holster and sometimes I forget I have it on me I get so used to it just being there. Doesn't interfere with my daily activities.

I have a .38 special +P I carry as a back up as well. A 9mm will do damage, there is no doubt about that.

Also, for the price you are talking about have you thought about the 1911? The .45 would be a more expensive target round, but that's what they make .22's for :)

The G22 is too large for me to carry. I'm 5'9", 160 lb.

I've got 1 1911 left, and just sold 2 a few weeks ago. I'd carry them into battle for sure, but still to heavy for me on a daily basis, unless I'm using a shoulder rig, and even then I don't wear the appropriate clothing.

Believe me, I've got PLENTY of sidearms in the safe to choose from. I just really like this new pistol and want to get it. It's kinda like trading in a 2007 HHR for a 2009. Nothing wrong with the old one, just want a new one. lol

Plus, when I picked this one up I knew it was "the one". It's that same feeling when you meet the woman you want to be your wife. Except this only "talks" when you want it to!

Well what you feel comfortable handling and shooting is best. If you have several other guns than by all means, go for it!

No problem, now that I know that you had more than one it makes more sense.
