Holy Crap, Earthquake!!!

Oh my gosh!!!

We just experienced a decent size EARTHQUAKE here in St. Louis!!!

Still waiting to hear the news but OH MY GOSH!!! Woke me from a major sleep at 4:35am. I must have lasted over 1 minute... made it out of my bed and the entire home was shaking in it's foundation.

Anyone else feel that sucker around St. Louis?

Man, that baby was a big one... woke me from a total dead sleep and I am a dead sleeper. Floor of the entire house wake moving as I went for the door frame.

My furnace was going and immediately shut off. Guess I better check for the smell of gas.

I can't get back to sleep after that sucker....

Okay, I guess I wasn't dreaming... it totally woke my parents and my fiance (all located in different parts of St. Louis)... and they said both their homes were shaking them awake as well.

News broadcasts are breaking in around St. Louis now...

Okay... it was officially a 5.4 earthquake just east of St. Louis. It was a "S" wave quake. Largest earthquake to hit St. Louis in 40 years.

Seemed to last between 30 - 45 seconds but the aftershocks lasted almost a minute.

Some reports of damage from around St. Louis are starting to come in. Possibly related fire in North St. Louis. Structural damage has now been reported. Overpass at Kingshighway completely closed due to structural damage.

Can't get back to sleep now...

Thanks for the "welcoming to the club" from you folks in SoCal...

I know you folks get them quite regular but that size is a bit freaky here in St. Louis.

I'm now wondering if this SoCal decal I added to my rear HHR window my have been a sign...

I missed it here in Chicago but it's the huge news of the day.

Several buildings downtown with minor damage.

I think I am going to buy some property in East St Louis for when everything West of the Mississippi falls into the Ocean.

NO WAY!!

It was felt up in Chicago? That quake covered quite a distance.

A lot more reports of building damage around here along with a few gas leaks.

Ironically, this exact date is the 102nd anniversary to the day of the worst earthquake to hit California in 1906.
