I hinted about this in the general HHR forum, but as this isnt actually an HHR I thought this might be the best place for it.
this is the panel wagon Im hoping to purchase and restore/upgrade.
what Id like to do is sort of a ratrod conversion, but Ill see if I can even find the owner before I devise a direction.
That's the grandfather of the HHR panels.
If you go on Youtube you will find people that swap out the chassis and use a 2WD S-10 or just do a front chip from an early Nova/Camaro and add a newer rear.
Don't go Rat Rod. Sorry that's my opinion.
Here's something to wet your whistle.
It's nice Blue that me and you are having conversation about this and I'm sure it can go on. But the OP doesn't even own it or has come back to really talk about how he would build the thing except he would possibly make it a rat rod. Let's see if he chimes back in.
just getting back home :)
keep the idea's coming in, I havent decided on a direction yet.
as mentioned though, not really a ratrod, but some concepts from that genre.
I havent looked at anything other than the pictures you've see as its behind a locked fence. but looking at the exterior and seeing not much in the way of rust, has me hoping the undercarriage is in as good a shape. that might actually kill off the entire project in its infancy as I dont really wish to go that in depth with it.
what I was kind of hoping though, was exactly what was posted about the s-10 for its engine, maybe even a donor grand national if I can find one in a salvage yard. (there are dozens within 50 miles of me)
CatMan, that is actually more likely the direction I would go with it
but as Im finding it difficult to locate the owner or someone I can purchase it from it may all be a moot point, it also would explain why its been sitting there untouched for what seems to me a very long time.
Blue there are many ways to do this. You answered that. I can dig up pictures also of swaps. But why ? If the man gets the truck let the pictures and build begin.
What happened here ? I thought we were just bouncing ideas around.
S-10 may not be for everyone, but I've had 2, & if I find the right one, It could be 3......... I'm still bummed GM quit making them in the US, They are still being produced in Brazil (last I knew)....
