It was hot outside yesterday.....how hot was it.....

Well coming home from running some errands and the temp was reading about 108 and hopping to 109 now and then! This is on the coast in the San Diego area so I wasn't worried too much as the A/C was working just fine. Anyways about 2 miles from home the CEL came on, no rough running or any thing so I came on home.

Hooked up my laptop to the ODB2 connector and turned on the O2 #1 and #2 sensor readers and there was NOTHING??!! So I restarted the laptop, same thing again even after clearing the CEL which was for the bad cat/O2 #2 issue but nothing. Let things cool off for a few hours, down to 90 or so and retested and the readings were back to normal!

Strange I would say?

Moved to the lounge. Has nothing to do with problem/service issues, more like discussing the weather.

Yes it's hot out there. I thought you fixed the p0420 with a new #2 O2 sensor.

I think you missed my point which was the lack of ANY signal from both O2 sensors. The signal came back after some cool down so I have no idea what caused it? I checked the wire paths and connectors and such and found nothing amiss.

I did go out again today but it was only 101 at the hottest so no SEL light came on.

Didn't miss the point. There was no problem/service issue noted. Maybe you could have tacked it onto one of your threads concerning the p0420 problem you were having? No need to start new threads everytime you have a new thought about something, if you keep related things together in one spot everybody can benefit.

I am thinking maybe the heat malformed the connectors, or the additional heat was too much for the ailing cat.

I am still unclear whether your cat is bad or not.
