How many of us are retired?
I'll lead off:
I retired from The Buick and working years were 1965-1996. I was 53 and haven't worked (for pay) in 17 years.
Starting pay was $2.90 in '65 and when I retired I was on skilled trades making $25.00+.
I retired at 53 because my father and grandfather both died at 60 and didn't get to retire. Who knew I would still be here?
From 1971 until 1980 I worked in the refinish area. I painted Buicks up until Buick built a new automated sprayer system. It was incredible that Buick painted their cars by hand up until 1980. Probably every auto manufacturer had had auto sprayers years before Buick.
Well I enjoyed my years at The Buick and and still enjoyibg the benefits.
Note: Buick was always called "The Buick" I think because they were quite a few auto factories in Flint, Michigan, but I am not certain.

Collecting Social Security to make ends meet, but plan on working until the actual date of death. I wish that I could have afforded to not work for a year so I could have gotten the Disability that I otherwise qualify for.

I've been retired since December 2002 from the Ralph's Grocery Company at the age of 52½. Between my pension and S.S. which I've been collecting for the last 1½ years, I actually receive more every month than when I was working. My home will be paid off in February 2014.
