Already PMd Deb, no response yet. A little more skill needed than I've seen o6 do yet.
I don't have photoshop, so a tutorial won't help. Great ideas though, I forgot about that thread.
Thanks Karen.

Mike...I don't know much about Photoshop...yet. Just got a couple versions loaded on my new computers the other day and haven't had time to mess with them yet. I can sure give it a try if I can have a few days to work on it...but my forte is Paint Shop Pro and I'm not even sure if I can remove the background with that.
I'm sure if you need a quick fix, the thread mentioned above would be your best bet. Let me know and I'll do what I can being a Photoshop rookie.

Thanks Deb. I didn't know how much if any experience you had with it. I've got a few weeks, nothing vital. I did post in the other thread so maybe I can get some help there.
thanks

You can go around what you want with the magnetic lasso to select then copy and put on a new canvas or invert select and delect the background. You can also erase the background with the erase tool. Or use the magic wand to select the colors of the background and erase.
Hope that helps.
Hope that helps.
Gimp is free and is just like photoshop. You could give it a try.

I like to use Extract. Simply go to Filter -> Extract. You'll get a new window with a few simple tools. You basically highlight the edges of the area you want to keep and then fill it in. PS will then guess what to keep and what to get rid of. Play around with the different options until you get the look you want. Make sure to select 'Smart Highlighting' for well defined edges to speed up the process. It's much faster and more forgiving than the magnetic lasso (though if you use this, don't forget to adjust your tolerances to get just the right edges). The Help tutorial is PS is pretty good for Extract.
Disclaimer - This info applies to version CS2 - I don't know about previous versions. Also, I use Mac OS X 10.4.8. If you are using something else, it may be slightly different - the Help tutorial should help you in this case.
BTW- I have media access for GM if you need any high-resolution images to work from. Just send me a PM with your request and I'll see what I can get for you.
