i, being native american, think that the government should leave them alone, they make thier money let them decide what they do with it, thats the lease the US could do for them.... i mean look at it the other way around how would erupeans like it if a bunch of folks just went across a lake and said "yepp all this land here, its mine".... and im not trying to start a race thing here but southern african american seem to get very mad when it comes to the slavery topic... yo buddie my folks they were the original slaves
I'd say get rid of the reservations entirely. This is the United States of America. If a foreign power invades this country, they aren't going to care who is living on a rez and who isn't. The US government is still expected to defend these "sovereign nations" and the States are still expected to care for these people in their hospitals and pave roads through the rez.
Time to move on, people. Yes, I have Native American ancestry and it IS enough to have received gov't benefits for college. Did do that? Nope. Custer and Little Big Horn was almost 130 years ago. It's over.
BTW, just for good measure, I'm against legalized casino gambling ANYWHERE. Nobody benefits except for the Boss running the show.

They should get a job. Take some of the jobs that border hoppers are getting and pay taxes like the rest of us do. If Custer and Big Horn were living in todays world, They would be working I bet!
When I think of "gaming" I realize the house has the best odds of winning. I don't choose to participate in the gaming industry. More people lose that win those are the odds. If I want to throw money down a rat hole, I'd donate it to a politician.
Since when in human history did we become so concerned over who owned what when? What ever "native" American there were 2000 or 300 years ago came from somewhere else (across the Bering Straights, maybe) so are they really the remains of the Mongols or Russians. So maybe they too should have the ability to set up a casino.
The native Americans or Indian tribes areabout to become an extinct race like the Myans of South America or have inbred with the whatever race followed.
The laws in the US are of eminent domain, you don't ever really own property, the government owns it and you pay taxes on it to support the government. If the tribes aren't paying taxes, they don't have rights to the land.

I am not able to vote because of some security token. But I am surprised that the majority so far want to add to the state coffers rather than let the Indians have it. I would have thought we had taken enough from them.
The states do a wonderful job of taking my money. And I really do not see the need to let them have any one else's resources when they have shown such inability to handle our money responsibly.

The indians are not just hiring indians. Just like any business, taxes are borne by the consumer and the employees in the form of higher prices and lower wages. I'd just as soon have a few places left to work that are not exploited by tapped out states as a new cash cow for their pet projects. Let the money stay in my pocket (as it won't just affect on-reservation business) rather than fund some high speed rail program in the middle of nowhere.
