Jobless after 19 yrs with the same company

What a shock!

Our insurance firm in St. Louis County was just bought out by a large national firm and they are closing our doors for good. Everyone is gone. What a bloodbath.

We'll be adding another 200 more to the unemployed in this area.

After 19 years with the same company... looks like I'll be out looking for employment...

Sorry to hear. I possibly might be joining the unemployment ranks in three weeks. Our Company lost there contract, new company doesn't want any of our employee's. So unless we can transfer to another building were screwed. 7Yr's or in your case 19yr busting your ass for What?!?! Just to hear your Fired. Companies then wonder why Employee's have no loyalty probably because the company doesn't give a rats ass about you as long as they make a larger profit every year.

Rich get Richer,Poor keep getting Poorer. No happy median.

Sorry to hear about your situation and I feel your pain. I had a similar experience 3 yrs ago. I worked for the same company for 23 years. I started at the bottom and finished as plant manager I was over production, warehouse, maintenance and purchasing. The company was very small 23 years ago and then got alot larger over the years. When we were bought by a very large company and they brought in their own people. I found out that I had lost my job while I was on vacation in Florida via a phone call. So much for loyality. I was lucky and found a new job not too long after. I lucked out and this company has been good to work for. Hope this job doesn't end up the same way as the last one. It's hard to trust after my last experience.

Sorry for the bad news (is that an oxymoron). Probably will be tough for a little while but keep a positive thought. It will turn out for the best......and possibly even better.
