People (most) have to do the same for X-Mas, but the actual day is the 25th, no early, night before stuff.
And what other holidays do you want to celebrate daily???

It is said that that Chicago has the Best Fire works Show in the State of Illinois that is on the 3rd and the next Best is Great Lakes Naval Base that is on the 4th and man they really have a Hell of a Show, It's too bad since 911 they can not have an Open Base on the 4th any more. I really enjoy the Show and I have the Best seat at the Naval Station.

Rudy...Ft.Rucker has been having the same great celebration for a long time now.The requirements at the gates are stricter, like valid ID and proof of insurance, but it is still open to all and FREE!! http://www.ftruckermwr.com/ Great band and fireworks. They shoot real cannons too with the 1812 Overture, although I think it's strange that a piece of music written by a Russian to celebrate a victory over the French has become such a big part of our holiday music. But what the heck...the cannons are a nice touch.

Was that for me? I know what July 4 is in the USA. I was comparing it to July 1 in Canada.

It has been done on the 3rd here (Columbus Ohio) for many years. This year will be the 27th I think. "They" say it's the biggest fireworks display in the midwest

Gee, I thought the fireworks at the St Louis Arch on the 4th were the biggest in the Midwest. They're often shown on nationally televised programs.
