What they need to do is open up a Casino like they have done at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun...those tribes have more money from those places than almost anyone else in New England!

I'm sure the Hualapai are making some serious $$ on the Skywalk as well...Seminoles are doing ok in FL with the Hard Rock...

If cutting up your license is their way of making a point, more power to them...I prefer to go to the Sun and support them with my $$ and at the same time play some Pai Gow

well casinos offer only wealth to a chosen few. they are not all rich or well to do by any means. maybe the US should hold up their end of the bargain. they Lakota should build a fence around their territories and keep the "Americans" out!

No, we need to treat them as the Americans that they are. Hell, we treat the illegals better!

Obviously you do not live as close to a Res as I do. I border the Salt River Pima Community. Most Native Americans have a difficult time accepting anything from the U.S./Bureau of Indian Affairs. I saw about 30 homes that were built by the US Gov. and within a month anything that was considered normal was pulled out and left in the front yard. Toilets, sinks, A/C, Furnace etc. Normally a whole is cut in the wall between the carport and the house and a make shift fire place is built to cook and heat the home.

The problems that is the main concearn here in AZ, NM, UT and CO has to do with Alcohol and drug related and the lack of jobs. Most of the young people are leaving the Reservations and moving into Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake etc.

PS Most of the illegals in this area work A LOT harder than the Natives. Most Native Americans get a very tidy Govt. payment and they split the moneys from the casinos to every man, woman and child of the tribe.

I dunno....seems like all the tribes in this area are doing quite well as the wealth is spread through the community..maybe the Lakota needs to take some pointers from the Mohegans

Having money brings more and worse substance abuse problems! I never met such a substance dependent group of people as when I moved to the suburbs. It's just usually not as open and obvious. You know the typical suburban family where the dad has a $1000 a week coke habit, the mom drinks like a fish, and the kids are all fuc*ed up on whatever they can get their hands on. But seeing as how they live in a nice area, keep up a nice happy wholesome church going family facade, make good money so they can support their habits, and are upstanding members of the community who cares right?

There are some casinos down in KS on the reservation and they seem to be doing well. There has been some contraversy over some Bingo halls being run on the reservations here in NE. I say what the hey, if its giving money to help the Indian people, and providing jobs for people, let it be.

We seem to forget how the Navajo code talkers saved many of our troops lives during WW2. That was a code that could never be broken.
