Looks like I'm off work for a while

While lifting a box, something in my elbow popped, then PAIN. My elbow is swollen with a hard knot on the side. I can't make a fist or extend my arm without sharp pain. Going to an orthopedic specialist soon. First time I've EVER been on workmans comp, and I hate it. I have tons of sick time built up and would much rather use that. My work will not allow anyone to work on restriction, so I'm home for a few days until my appointment. Not a good time of year for me since this is my busiest time. This sucks.

Hope it gets better soon.... whatever it is. But enjoy your time off, you probably need it anyway. Why not take the time to do some small mods to the HHR?

Just don't do ANYTHING outside your house. I had a friend who was a PI for insurance companies and he'd go around videotaping people making workman's comp claims doing yard work and such. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Hey there, sorry to hear but I know the feeling! I cut the tip of my finger off at work on the 21st of May and am still not back to work!!! Only good thing about it is that one day after a Dr. appointment I went by my local Chevy dealer and saw an HHR on the lot. Took it for a spin and well, the rest as they say is history!!!

I feel for you. I had a heart attack at work 3 1/2 years ago. I was given 2 options: sign here and get a pension, or, the Chief will sign for you and you get a pension. Haven't really done anything since.

Didn't you just going skydiving on your trip to Florida? Isn't if odd that skydiving didn't hurt you but picking up a box did? I feel for you. I first hurt my lower back when fielding a ground ball at third base and trying to throw it to first. I was only 20 and it was the same motion I'd made hundreds of times but this one affected the rest of my life.

Hope you feel better real soon!

I'm back to work today! Yea! I'm not 100% by any stretch, but I was told I'm not going to do further damage to it by working smart, and just take it easy with that arm and watch how I lift things to not use the muscle. I pulled the medial epicondyles muscle, or so they tell me, so mostly I'm doing desk work, which is BORING! But at least I'm not on Workman's comp. any longer. Doc says this type of injury takes about 10 days to heal, so hopefully I'll be back to normal soon.

Sandy, yes I did skydive while in Florida, and I got hurt picking up a box I can't explain it. Just one of those crazy things. Kind of makes me want to go jump out of another plane rather than go to work, since work is apparently more dangerous
