Talking Lyrics ...

Perhaps more than any other thing in this world , Music can explain things about a culture or a person that you just cant read in books or profiles. In service one of my Fav ways to unwind was to fill the Tank , Blare the stero , and cruise the back roads of Texas to see what I could find ...so turn Up your stereo , blare it out and tell us what you have to say with Lyrics to your Fav songs!

Copperhead Road
(Steve Earle)
Well my name's John Lee Pettimore
Same as my daddy and his daddy before
You hardly ever saw Grandaddy down here
He only came to town about twice a year
He'd buy a hundred pounds of yeast and some copper line
Everybody knew that he made moonshine
Now the revenue man wanted Grandaddy bad
He headed up the holler with everything he had
It's before my time but I've been told
He never came back from Copperhead Road
Now Daddy ran the whiskey in a big block Dodge
Bought it at an auction at the Mason's Lodge
Johnson County Sheriff painted on the side
Just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside
Well him and my uncle tore that engine down
I still remember that rumblin' sound
Well the sheriff came around in the middle of the night
Heard mama cryin', knew something wasn't right
He was headed down to Knoxville with the weekly load
You could smell the whiskey burnin' down Copperhead Road

I volunteered for the Army on my birthday
They draft the white trash first,'round here anyway
I done two tours of duty in Vietnam
And I came home with a brand new plan
I take the seed from Colombia and Mexico
I plant it up the holler down Copperhead Road
Well the D.E.A.'s got a chopper in the air
I wake up screaming like I'm back over there
I learned a thing or two from ol' Charlie don't you know
You better stay away from Copperhead Road

Copperhead Road
Copperhead Road
Copperhead Road

Mostly I identify with the spirit of this song That Libery or death ...pirate thing ...the enlistment verse ... and a kinship with those whe served. I did not serve in Vietnam but different generation , different continent ...in the end its more the same thaan it ever is different ...

Last Monday I was listening to this song over and over. The next day I was creeped out when I saw on the news that a missle was launched off the coast of Calif. It reminded me of some dreams I had when I was younger. The dreams I had were of me standing just north of Chicago looking at a completely destroyed city and listening to the radio that just announced that Atlanta was also gone plus some other city on the east coast (Can't remember which one).

Tremble you weaklings, cower in fear
I am your ruler, land, sea and air
Immense in my girth, erect I stand tall
I am a nuclear murderer I am Polaris

Ready to pounce at the touch of a button
My system locked in on military gluttons
I rule on land, air and sea
Pass judgement on humanity
Winds blow from the bowels of hell
Will we give warning, only time will tell
Satan rears his ugly head, to spit into the wind

[Chorus]
I spread disease like a dog
Discharge my payload a mile high
Rotten egg air of death wrestles your nostrils
I spread disease like a dog
Discharge my payload a mile high
Rotten egg air of death wrestles your nostrils
Launch the Polaris, the end doesn't scare us
When will this cease
The warheads will all rust in peace!

Bomb shelters filled to the brim
Survival such a silly whim
World leaders sell missiles cheap
Your stomach turns, your flesh creeps
I rule on land, air and sea
Pass judgement on humanity
Winds blow from the bowels of hell
Will we give warning, only time will tell

[Chorus]

High priest of holocaust, fire from the sea
Nuclear winter spreading disease
The day of final conflict
All pay the price
The third world war
Rapes peace, takes life
Back to the start, talk of the part
When the earth was cold as ice
Total dismay as the sun passed away
And the days where black as night

[Chorus]

Eradication of Earth's
Population loves Polaris (x4
)

Picture of the mystery missle:

and I am useless in this thread... being a typical gemini I am too all over the place to relate to a song. I can for a couple minutes but then my mind ends up somewhere else.

My favorite song (more than Back In Black or Johnny Winter's Riot On Cell Block #9 even)

Ode To Joy - English translation from Beethoven's 9th Symphony, 4th movement

Beethoven's words in italics
Schiller's are not

Oh friends, not these tones!
Rather, let us raise our voices in more pleasing
And more joyful sounds!
Joy! (Joy!)
Joy! (Joy!)

Joy, thou glorious spark of heaven,
Daughter of Elysium,
We approach fire-drunk,
Heavenly One, your shrine.
Your magic reunites
What custom strictly parts;
All men become brothers,

(Schiller: What custom's sword separates;
Beggars become princes' brothers)
Where your gentle wing alights.

(Chorus)
Be embraced, you millions!
This kiss for the whole world!
Brothers, beyond the star-canopy
Must a loving Father dwell.
Do you bow down, you millions?
Do you sense the Creator, world?
Seek Him beyond the star-canopy!
Beyond the stars must He dwell.

Whoever succeeds in the great attempt
To be a friend of a friend,
Whoever has won a lovely woman,
Let him add his jubilation!
Yes, whoever calls even one soul
His own on the earth's globe!
And who never has, let him steal,
Weeping, away from this group.

All creatures drink joy
At the breasts of nature;
All the good, all the evil
Follow her roses' trail.
Kisses gave she us, and wine,
A friend, proven unto death;
Pleasure was to the worm granted,
And the cherub stands before God.
Before God!

Glad, as his suns fly
Through the Heavens' glorious plan,
Run, brothers, your race,
Joyful, as a hero to victory.

(Finale repeats the words:)
Be embraced, ye millions!
This kiss for the whole world!
Brothers, beyond the star-canopy
Must a loving Father dwell.
Be embraced,
This kiss for the whole world!
Joy, beautiful spark of the gods,
Daughter of Elysium,
Joy, beautiful spark of divinity
Divinity!

Love this one....

Got out really early from the factory
Driving like a nut in the rain
Don't think I was acting so hysterically
But I didn't see a thing until it came
Man, the drunks were verbal in the takeaway
Beating up the Chinee at the counter
I put a few inside me at the end of the day
I took out my revenge on the revolution counter

Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
You'd think by now at least
That half a brain would get the message
Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
Into a brand new car

In walks Bud with his exploding nose
He'd been giving it maximum today
He shouted, how the devil, you in trouble I suppose
But all you ever do is run away
Gunned up the motor inta hyperdrive
I wasn't gonna take any of that
Don't get bright ideas about a suicide
Cause all I ever hear is zoom bam bam past me

Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
You'd think by now at least
That half a brain would get the message
Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
Into a brand new car

Crawling, crawling, crawling from the wreckage
Crawling, crawling, crawling from the wreckage
Crawling, crawling, crawling from the wreckage

Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
Bits of me are scattered in the trees and in the hedges
Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
Into a brand new car

Nothing seem to happen that ain't happened before
I see it all through flashes of depression
I drop my drink and hit some people running for the door
Gotta make some kind of impression
Cause when I'm disconnected from the driving wheel
I'm only half the man I should be
But metal hitting metal is all I feel
And everything is good as it possibly could be

Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
You'd think by now at least
That half my brain would get the message
Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
Into a brand new car

Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
Bits of me are scattered in the trees and on the hedges
Crawling from the wreckage, crawling from the wreckage
Into a brand new car

Crawling from the wreckage
Crawling from the wreckage….

My driver's ed song....
