Actually anything bigger than a 200mm wide starts having funky handling in turns. Basically cause on an angle /lean there are 2 separate lines of tracking. One is fighting the other..

Certainly not for traction, since they ride on the crown of the tire.

It's just for looks. & imo that fad is passing....(happy days)...

Now I like that, & handles fine too.. Exile* was making Fat Tire bikes F&R


I was referring to a 380mm & a 1.75" x 21" skinny on front.

If you look at the cornering pic, you can see the actual contact patch is rather small.

Yes, but on tires that are not extremely different in widths, the groove is basically the same.
