More News (Bad/Good?)

Chris just called and told me that SuperValu has sold off Scott's (the company he works for) to Kroger. Not sure what this means for him. There is no Kroger located in the town that the Scott's he works at is located. However, he does not know if they intend to keep it open or not. How will this affect pay, vacation, and the biggest of all, I will lose my insurance. Just when you think all things have settled down .

Kroger is buying up everything. Out here there was a place called Smittys that was bought by Smith, then bought Fry's that in turn sold out to Kroger. We dont have any Krogers out here. They kept the Fry's names and most of the stores stayed open, if they shut down one of the older stores a new pne was buit close by.
Sorry to hear that it happen, but hopefully they will keep them open and everything will work out for you.

It can certainly be scary when the initial news comes out about these types of things. Most times they work out well.

I've worked for four different companies and never changed desks.

Although at 50 I am entirely bored with retirement, the only thing I worry about changing these days are the seasons.

Having been through this myself I understand fully what can be expected. I watched as all my co-workers at the top of their payscales were left hanging with no offers of employment with the new company. That is what scares me the most with Chris as he is at the top of his payscale. If he is able to make the transition to the new company all should be good as I feel Krogers has a better opportunity to compete with the likes of Wal-Mart and Meijer stores compared to what Scott's was. The only negative I see then is that fact that I will no longer be carried on his insurance.

Why would you not be able to stay on the new policy?
Should not matter! Does it?

SuperValu offers benefits to domestic partners and Kroger does not.

Yeah, Disney offers the same benefit!

On a more serious note........

Let's hope Chris doesn't find himself w/o a job.
