My Latest Find

I travel a lot and found carrying a full size laptop with me to be a pain. I had been looking at the mini-laptops since way before Christmas but they either had no memory, were too expensive when upgraded, or were manufactured by a company not known for reliability.

Last month I found a Dell mini with Windows XP, 1G of RAM, and an 8G hard drive advertised on the Sam's Club website for $245. That was cheaper than my last two cell phones. I took the plunge and love it! I only use a laptop while traveling for reading email and surfing the net. This system is small and light enough to fit in my purse. Even the power cord is smaller than normal. It takes a while to get used to the smaller keyboard but much easier than typing a text message on a PDA keyboard. I bought a portable hard drive in case I need to use Microsoft Office. It will even fit on the tray on an airplane.

I've been looking for something similar but too afraid to make a mistake. Will have to check it out. Does it have multiple USB ports?

YEAH!!!! You did it!!!
I've had my Dell MINI since December (have the 16 gig HD) and LOVE IT. I'm in DC for work and am typing from it right now (and doing homework). I run MS Office and you'd be amazed at what you can have open with 1 gig of memory. I got mine on the Dell Outlet page for a song. Totally easy to just toss in a bag.

Here is a pic of Xochitl next to it & Paquita is in my sig line. Glad you got it and like it too!

And yes, it has 3 usb ports (my Dell Studio 17 only has 4) & can run about 3.5 hours on the battery.

I think those are neat, the price is right but for me still too big to tote around - unless man purses become fashionable - NOT!!, Although a little bit limited, I'll stick with my PDA (not smart phone) hooked to the net via wifi or BT/cell to satisfy my you tube and chevyhhr.net fix
