New chevy Cruze
Just bought the wife a new chevy Cruze!
What a great car for the money! I think it has a really cool look, Would love to see an SS model with the 2.0 turbo with the 6 speed manuel and posi traction with the GMTU.With all the after market mods available, would make this a really good looking and fast car. I wish that GM would follow fords lead in making there cars with so many options! The car really drives great I got her the 1.8 liter non turbo. and I love the trans, it shifts so nice and the gearing is great! Love the way it looks and drives. I can see why they are selling so many. I would recommend this car to anyone. Just wish they would put a SS model that you could order. It would give the ford escort with ecoboost a run for the money and imo out sell the car. Come on chevy get with the program. Give your customers what they want! Tim |
Congrats on the new addition to your four wheeled family Tim!:twothumbs:
Unfortunately an SS model Cruze isn't on Chevy's books, but they are due for a redesign this fall with other engine offerings rumoured. For my money, the 2.0 TDI Diesel models are the most fun to drive, the clatterbox under the hood makes torque by the truckload. Sadly, they are saddled with a very tall final drive ratio and gearing aimed at hyper mileage eco-weenies, instead of VW's more normal ratios. |
Yes kind of figured their not looking to make an ss version, Chevy sonetimes makes me think my Grandma is making all the choices. GM could really sell more cars if they would just offer a more sportier option to most of their cars.
I think most of the consumers are leaning that way, And Ford is the only one listening...just a shame! Ok Mike. I give..what did you win? I don't know what RDE stands for? Take care Tim |
Neat car those Cruze's what color did she get?
My wife has hinted at a new ride, she's had enough after 12 years of her 2003 Sunfire GT, 330,000 klms or 198,000 miles, I keep it clean there's no rust but she has been hinting and does like the very light blue color! |
Atlantis Blue Metalic exterior/interior Jet black/Medium Titanium
My mom has the cruze in the light blue it's pretty color Tim |

Black Tara the Buick Verano comes with the 2.0l turbo and a 6speed manual option. Not sure about LSD even being an option though.
Buick now has a 1.6l turbo motor too. I am surprised GM is not thinking of making it an option for the Cruze. |
Let's hope the next-gen fixes this. ^

I was given a 2013 Cruz as a Loaner Car on my last visit to the local GM dealer for some mechanical work on my Van.
The Cruze only had 14,000 miles on it. Eco Model with auto 6 speed trans. I drove it for almost a week so I had time to check it out. A peppy little engine with OK gas mileage but as it turns out I had driven my neighbors 2013 Hyundai Elantra only a week earlier on a short trip. Hyundai Pros; + It did better on gas mileage by 3.2 miles per gallon. Driven by me only so the same driver and conditions on each car. + Handled just a tad better . + Felt a little more solid. + Easier to operate Cruise Controls + Transmission shifting was flawless Cons Cruze; - The Cruze that year "2013" had the inside power door lock switches on the Center Dash Panel near the radio. A Pain... A Terrible spot but they left no room on the drivers side arm rest area to put them. - The 6 speed tranny was OK on the normal take offs but not so good around town with it's unpredictable shifting up and down with different throttle positions. - There were some Controls on the overhead at Center of the windshield area that you could not see what they were for unless you could bend over somehow and look up at the same time. To Me they were a Stupid Mistake. I am not a Hyundai Fan and it was a fairly simple comparison but a bit disappointing to say the least. I have not had an opportunity to look at the 2015 Cruze to see if they have made any changes or improvements to the issues I have mentioned. I hope so.... Silverfox |
I found this article about the Chinese version of the 2016 (next gen) Cruze. Overall body shape should be the same. My first thoughts about it's new look is that it look generic. Perhaps it will grow on me but right now I prefer the outgoing version. Currently you can get the Cruze with the 2.0l Turbo Diesel. Other articles are speculating that that engine should carry over but that is speculation on their partfrom what I can see.

To answer Silver Fox.
Yes they have made changes, none of those things are on the new cruze. the power window buttons are on the door now. To me the car really drives very nice. the car is getting about 28 mi to the gallon, she drives about half and half frwy and city, so not to bad :) |
YAY .... Finally GM is Listening.
I'VE GOT THE POWER !! .... |
I was looking for that Buick since I never paid attention to notice one and the wikipedia lists a 2.0 TC engine with 260 ft lbs torque at 2000 rpm.....what!! That must be for the CDM or EDM more likely in the Opel? Pretty impressive if it's true.
