New Limited Edition 2008 Z06
New Limited Edition 2008 Z06
For those interested, GM/Chevrolet Division announced the edition of a new Z06 for 2008. Same car and horsepower, just derived from a different source.

OH MAN! I want one so bad. If I trade my HHR and get 8k out of it, finance the remaining 80k over 84 months at 3%, my payments would ONLY be $1057.06 per month. Now if I let my house foreclose, quit eating out, stop making road trips, I just might make it.
Nice, exclusive vette that'll surely be collectible, to a point. But that signature of the plant manager (that has a WHOPPING 15 years on the job) really takes the cake! I'll bet that's good for a couple of tenths in the quarter mile!
Understand the Plant Manager staying in the same position at the same location is a bit rare for GM. But, the signature issue, is more to GM's thinking of making project leaders more responsible for their product, i.e., John Heinracy. It's just a tool for GM to display it.
Oh, and if you are interested in WHO he, the Plant Manager is......

Snoopy, it just seems to me that there are others that should be credited for their accomplishments (like the corvette engineers) rather than this plant manager that probably has had NO direct input in the development of this great american performance icon. Just making fun of the OEMs in general for putting sigs on "limited edition" vehicles thinking people will buy them for their exclusivity!
This car will sell itself based on it's low production numbers, signature or not!

Good point, and it does happen that way some time.
But, GM recognized this plany manager for a reason.....I know NOT why. Maybe for his quality control efforts at the plant (this can be debated, however). Maybe for his contributions for re-engineering an assembly process. Maybe just by vote and his name was submitted.
You may find out the reason at the release process of the first model.
Oh, and for those members that accompanied me for the tour of the GM Desert Proving Ground.........The red Z06 Corvette that you saw parked was a prototype for this special edition. I couldn't say anything at the time because information wasn't released yet.

Just a curiosity question here: Do the CTS-V models have John Heinricy's signature on them somewhere?
Given that he has raced those cars in the SCCA/Speed World Challenge GT class and is the Director of GM's High Performance Vehicle Operations, his signature might be more meaningful on these models.
