Just wanted to say hi, My name is Joe, from north jersey. wanted to take a look around, been thinking about an HHR. wanted to read the froums and take a look to see what issues there are, what mods can be done. other things of that nature. The hhr would be a replacement for my 96 cavalier to go alongside my 2007 mustang gt
Hey Joe, I did the same thing. Came here, read a lot, asked some questions, and read the threads. I fell in "love" with the looks of the HHR since I first saw one in late 2005.
In November of this year, I ended up renting a HHR for a week from Enterprise, it was a LS. I wanted to make sure I would like the way it drove since I had been driving Honda Accords for 8 years. (They are GREAT cars to drive.) The HHR is a different kind of driving experience than a Honda Accord, but I really like it.
I purchased a 2007 Black 2LT on 12/14/07. It had been on the lot for 6 months and the dealer was anxious to sell. Tomorrow I am having a sway bar installed, so that will give it a little better handling.
My five kids and my wife hate the HHR, and that's fine by me. No one will ask to dive it!
My recommendation is to rent one for a week and then you will know if you like it.
WELCOME to the site. There are a great bunch of folks here to answer questions and help.
Peace,

A fellow 96 Cavalier owner? Awesome. I do not have an HHR yet but plan on ordering an SS in the near future.
Do yourself a favor, buy a pair of Mustang Cobra emblems and stick them on the Cavalier...it adds about 20hp at the REAR wheels... and you've got yourself a Cobralier.

I had been recommending to friends and family, for many years, renting for at least a couple of days, the vehicle you are thinking of purchasing (particularly if it is a change of manufacturers, models or utility). If you use it, during the rental period, as you would if you owned it....it will provide more insight into the values/merits or faults of the vehicle.
Because of this recommendation, SOME had moved on to another vehicle, than the original choice. But saved themselves some aggrevation, or mistakes, in the long run.
Also if you rented, those "faults" you may find in the rental, can be asked here. With our diverse group, someone is bound to have an answer.
thanks for the ideas. i think i may have to do that. Hopefully i can pick one up while on travel with work. if i buy it'll be a 2lt with 5 speed and a sunroof. there are a few other cars i am thinking about. list of planned mods
