Nissan Pino

I'm surprised Hillsdale didn't catch this one first.

You ask me, it looks like the HHR's otaku cousin from Japan in the middle of a cosplay convention.

(BTW: I LOVE "Big Morgan"'s reply!)

Well, y'know, you're the one with the stuff off of CNN or whatever, and that's where I found this.

What makes this 'un stand out is how aggressively Nissan is marketing this one toward the younger-20's female customers by making it uber-cute. The article also mentions Pinoshop.jp, where they sell especially girly accessories for the car such as plushie seat cushions and CD cases shaped like giant fat pairs of lips. I just happened to notice the similarities to the HHR in that it has the defined fender lines, the rounded front end and a blocky rear end. Truth be told it looks like what would happen if Sailor Moon bought an HHR and Japanified it.

You're close on "otaku," cap. Otaku, as I've heard it defined, is a fanboy/girl so much into it that they've become totally obsessed by it, a phenomenon which is not uncommon in Japanese pop culture. (Refer to the DVD "Otaku no Video" for a "documentary" on this subset of the population) For an American example ... let's say if you're so far into Star Trek that you have a hand-made uniform you wear to the office, use a Starfleet rank on your business cards, and spend hours on end downloading blueprints on the Internet in the hopes of building a life-size Deep Space Nine, that's otaku-level obsession.

Unless you spend probably 80% of your income on anime, cap, you're not an otaku. Myself, I'm a recovering otaku.

I'm out of my obsessed state so I guess I'm not that bad. I still like my Hentai and violence though. Give me something like Kite, the Cool Devices series, or the Urotsukidoji series any day. I like normal stuff too but nothing can beat a giant demon with nine laser shooting penises destroying cities and wild sh*t like that.
