I think it also has a lot to do with these people wanting their 5 minutes of fame. They're not afraid to die so everyone else carrying guns wouldn't stop them. We've created a society where everybody wants to be on TV. If it takes shooting up a mall or a campus, so be it.

Great info guys on the mental health issues. I totally agree that counseling is needed along with meds. Been there, saved my life!

 

It may not deter them BUT it evens the odds and perhaps will limit the loss of life. If a person had stood up in that auditorium and started throwing some lead back at him, I'm sure he would not have just kept calmly walking around picking out his victims...same goes for VT and the Mall.....look what happened when that whack job in CO at the churches was confronted by an armed citizen? True he committed suicide but only after she dropped him with some well placed shots
