non HHR problems

We drove from Red Wing MN to Lincoln Nebraska to lay my father to rest, and after driving 500 some miles, the wife's Trailblazer (2008) stopped steering. Kind of like when the steering motor quits on the HHR. We ended up limping into a small town and found an awesome shop, Auto Docs in Firth Nebraska. The owner and lead mechanic worked on the trucck the rest of the day, and then drove us to Lincoln to get a room for the night. The next day they got the steering working, picked us up and got us on our way home. Total damages to the truck were new hoses, and a new rack and pinion, to the tune of just under $1800.... that included flushing the system, alignment and a lifetime warranty on the rack & pinion through NAPA We then drove the 8 hours to get home tonight. We are mighty tired!! but the Trailblazer ran great!! We figured it would handle the roads a bit nicer with the added weight and longer wheelbase than the HHR. Should have driven the HHR I guess.

If you are ever near Firth Nebraska and need some work done, they are the ones to take it to!!
P.S. the local cafe has great food too!!

(Firth us just south of Lincoln Nebraska)
