Nothing needs to be said...

Ford, Chrysler and GM's contributions

--- after 9/11

An interesting commentary...You might find this of interest:

'CNN Headline News did a short news listing regarding Ford and GM's contributions to the relief and recovery efforts in New York and Washington.

The findings are as follows.....

1. Ford- $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee contributions of the same amount plus 10 Excursions to NY Fire Dept. The company also offered response team services and office space to displaced government employees.

2. GM- $10 million to American Red Cross matching employee contributions of the same amount and a fleet of vans, suv's, and trucks.

3. Daimler Chrysler- $10 million to match employee contributions in support of the children and victims of the Sept. 11 attack.

4. Harley Davidson motorcycles- $1 million and 30 new motorcycles to the New York Police Dept.

5. Volkswagen-Employees and management created a Sept 11 Foundation,
funded initial with $2 million, for the assistance of the children and victims of the WTC.

6. Hyundai- $300,000 to the American Red Cross.

7. Audi-Nothing.

8. BMW-Nothing.

9. Daewoo-Nothing.

10. Fiat-Nothing.

11. Honda- Nothing despite boasting of second best sales month ever in August 2001

12. Isuzu- Nothing.

13. Mitsubishi-Nothing.

14. Nissan-Nothing.

15. Porsche-Nothing. Press release with condolences via the Porsche website.

16. Subaru- Nothing.

17. Suzuki- Nothing.

18. Toyota-Nothing despite claims of high sales in July and August 2001. Condolences posted on the website

Whenever the time may be for you to purchase or lease a new vehicle, keep this information in mind. You might want to give more consideration to a car manufactured by an American-owned and / or American based company.

Apart from Hyundai and Volkswagen, the foreign car companies contributed nothing at all to the citizens of the United States ... It's OK for these companies to take money out of this country, but it is apparently not acceptable to return some in a time of crisis.

I believe we should not forget things like this. Say thank you in a way that gets their attention..

Thanks!

for showing me where the love is. i was just watching extreme makeovers-(the show where they give a new home to a family in desperate need)-. it blows me away to think that anyone in this country is hungry, it's the diversity of wealth vs poverty that gets me , while driving i see so many new vehicles and new homes , and then i see the trialer parks and people waiting for the bus.

Wow that's eye opening info. Big to the American manufacturers who supported our country in a time of need.

Another fine reason why we (the tax payers) should help them out in there time of need.

Extreme makeovers TV show is one of the worst thing ever put on TV. Period. I personally can't stand to watch the show. They are just out for the tear jerkier crowd,

What a travesty. While I love the premise behind the show, you have to wounder why it is so necessary to go so far over the top. Not to mention who and how they choose some of the supposedly needy families.

Don't mean to insult anyone that feels otherwise. It's just my 2 cents.

First, sticks on flame suit...................While I commend the first 6 companies on the list for their donations to this cause, to say that the other 12 companies "contributed nothing at all to the citizens of the United States" is just plain wrong. Yes they may not have contributed donations to a 9/11 cause but you can bet they have made other contributions that affect Millions of U.S. citizens.

And to one side of the story there is always another. Check out the following article and keep reading to the bottom: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/automakers.asp

i kinda believe that "it's the giving , not the gift". $10mil is a very nice gesture , as well as "a gift" also , and it's tax deductable. oh , and thanks for that link -it tells a different story. hhmm , gotta be careful what you see on this here outernet.
