Very cool. In answer to your question, I believe so. I know his brother Edgar does.

I know Johnny Winter is theoretically blind on stage... Many years ago I saw him almost step off the edge of the stage. A keen eyed roady ran out and saved him from certain injury. It was a 5 foot tall stage.

Yes, he is as well. Saw him at a Blues Festival years ago, and the concert review (remember those??) said that light-sensitivity was why he he didn't move around much, even with sunglasses on.
He was loud as all hell, but otherwise kind of boring as a #2 at a big 1980s Blues Festival.

Albert Collins in the afternoon was our favorite, followed by headliner Stevie Ray Vaughan. Albert sat down next to my brother in the stands while playing, and high-fived him! Blues touch!!! Alas, my bro plays nothing more than the radio or CD/DVDs...
