I'm only in the stock market through my retirement account, which I payroll deduct into pre-tax, but I've been getting hammered. The main fund I'm in is a five star rated fund (Morningstar) but its down quite a bit. I let it get down too much-- in hindsight I didn't think the market would crash this hard and thought I could ride it out-- now I have no choice, since moving into a Federal Govt Securities Fund or cash fund right now and I would seal my losses.

Damn all this fear and panic, when is the rally going to start and hold?

I had plans to retire by age 57 , maybe 55 if the numbers worked out. This is going to put me to age 65 for sure. I'm 45 now.

Up until today I was making money. Seems like all hell broke lose today, I've lost everything I have made this week! I'm back to where I started but I wish I was up.

I received my statements in the mail yesterday for my rolled over IRA. It's probably staying on the counter a long while or going right to the shredder.

I am actually making money, not a lot but it beats losing it. The bulk of our stuff was moved to low risk funds and bonds several months ago when things started to get shaky. Eventually things will turn and it will go back into higher risk funds for the upturn. Buy low sell high.

My dad (who is retired) but working part time couldn't handle it and took some out at a loss. He's still in the game but I'm not sure how much longer he can handle the roller coaster ride.
