OMG tornados in Jan.

Unbelievable. Here in Northern IL we had tornados that flattened houses this afternoon. So far everyone seems to have survived this unexpected weather. A lot of damage though. 5 days ago we had 5 degs. below zero.

Where are you at? I'm in central IL, Pekin to be exact, and we only have warnings so far. Rain that is making people pull over from driving, almost wrecked three times on the way home from work.

To bad to hear about the tornados there. Thankfully we haven't had them yet. Have a watch out till 9 I think though. Seems pretty calm here now though, hope it stays that way. Good luck and stay safe if you get more storms.

The tornado always misses us here in Glen Ellyn.....I'm an avid storm lover....Sucks that Joliet gets the best of the storms...

Exclamation crazy...

I am in Naperville, & I also love crazy storms, but not at the expense of anyone's property...or HHRs! All of the crazy storms so far this evening have missed us, but I did see where there have been some BAD ones around the region...This weather we are currently having is pretty unheard of for January. I even heard we may have set an all time record high today.

Althought it is an unusual time of the year for tornadoes, the right conditions and bring on development of tornadoes at any time.

Large area of low pressure blasting into unusually warm area with moisture feeding up from the Gulf.

Not too surprised since we'd have temps in the 70's for the last three days and a lot of cold air arriving from that moster low pressure system that caused so much havoc out west.

As of 8:30pm this evening...

We have 5 different possible funnel cloud spotted around the St. Louis area during the last 5 minutes...

Time to batten down the hatches and hang on for a rough night around St. Louie... A bit scracy at night when you can't even see it coming until the lightning flashes.

Good thing the HHR is somewhat protected in the garage...
