For all the interested students:

I went on Chantix which cost $127/month Funny thing is, now my employer has this big smoking cessation program going, and they're paying for Chantix (-$20 copay) and another product.

I took it for 5 months, I never really wanted to quit, but external "pressures" i.e., school propaganda my kids are taught until it just wore me down to the point where I was only smoking 1 or 2 per day. Then one cold February day I was out and didn't feel like trudging out in the frozen tundra to buy more.

Oh, and BTW, I'm still broke all the time so what happened to the $4/day anyway

I smoked 2 packs a day for 21 years. Quit cold turkey last June right before I bought the HHR. (That was my motivator.)

I never tried to quit before. But, it wasn't nearly as hard as I'd heard about. What I did was went camping for 3 days, alone. Nearest store was miles and miles away so I wouldn't be tempted. I just sweated it out until the nicotine cleared they system. Then I told myself, "Self, you dont' smoke any more." And it's been good since.

That's the same way I quit drinking also. Been a year and a half with that one. :)

Congratulations on one year, you big quitter! My well-intentioned advice = "just one" cigarette does not exist for an ex-smoker, so don't fool yourself about it. I quit for a year and a half, tried "just one" around Thanksgiving, and now I'm back up to a pack a day. Take my advice - I'm obviously not using it!

However - I do NOT smoke in the HHR! Just thought I'd mention that...

First time I "really" quit in my twenties for 6 months. The next time I "finally" quit in my thirties for 10 years. When I turned 50 I just went for the drugs...
