Please Check! Pet Food Recall
Our cats had been on Nutrience dry and Nutro wet food.
After a problem with our oldest cat, the vet told us to get them off of the Nutrience. We changed from Nutro simply because the stores were no longer carrying the flavours our cats liked.
So we switched to IAMS for dry and wet. We were lucky, our male cat loved the IAMS cuts with gravy stuff (recalled) but our female didn't, so we didn't buy anymore.
Our local pet store pulled all IAMS wet products (and all other recalled brands) off the shelf as a precaution.
That left us with minimal choice, so we tried out the Wellness foods and they love it. Yes, it costs twice as much as the IAMS wet food, but it has a lot better ingredients.

In response to Dayton's post about Alpo...when I was in WallyWorld early Sat. morning,I was picking up some food for old BeauBo.The self check-out would not let me buy his food.Of course I freaked because he has been eating Alpo Choice Cuts with beef for years.I can only hope that what I have been feeding him was not the affected lot numbers. He seems fine, sleeps all day and that's normal for him since he turned 15 this year.I bought a different kind of Alpo that was not on the list and I will be watching the old man carefully.Man,what the heck can you do? Just pray for things to be alright I guess.HB

Just got back from the vets for Eddie's semi-anual check up......
There was a sign posted that they are advising all their clients to IMMEDIATELY STOP giving pets any/all CHICKEN JERKY treats of all brands as there is a suspicious link between these and renal failure!!
No official recall has been posted yet.

And all due to greed... greed of some chinese supplier spiking the wheat gluten with melamine to mimick a higher protein content while ensuring a much lower cost of production, thus significantly boosting profit. Well, at least they execute people for these kind of stunts in China. Or the disgraced business owner (if caught or found out) kill themselves in accordance with their cultural traditions.
It should be noted that the tainted gluten from the pet food recall was FOOD GRADE as opposed to FEED GRADE (there are two grades). Which means it could possibly have (and may have) been purchased in bulk as an ingredient for bread and other human food, and people were also eating it unknowingly. The FDA was strangely mute about the tainted gluten having been Food Grade-- the info had to be pryed out of them by the media.
